PARTIES

There will be three parties on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, each one including great live music as well as an afterparty. May we introduce:

Friday: Swing Night with Linda Kyei Swing Combo

We loved their show last year so much that we invited them to Swingin’ Charlie again this year!
Linda Kyei presents her Swing Combo, with whom she has perfected the warm, crackling, intense and always relaxed jazzy sound of the good old days. They are joined by Andrew Andrews of “The Hot Jazz Rewinders” on drums and the award-winning Sascha Kommer (among others, Prince of Hohenzollern Jazz Young Talent Award) on piano. Mr. Netz on saxophone and clarinet and Sir Holley on double bass complete the combo.

Saturday: Ballroom Night with The Huggee Swing Band

“Music is your own experience, your thoughts, your wisdom. If you don’t live it, it won’t come out of your horn.” (C. Parker)

The Huggee Swing Band consists of 7 professional musicians who are totally dedicated to making music. All of them studied at the Mannheim University of Music or are still studying there. From a project that was initially only planned for one gig, a swing band has developed that now has a solid name in the Mannheim music scene.

And to put the cherry on the cake for you the Huggees are joined by the great vocalist Jil Pappert on their show on the Saturday party!

To sum it up with their words: “We are the Huggees and we celebrate SWING.”

Afterhours on Saturday

To all the night owls and partypeople:
Are you in for some fancy drinks, a chat with your new friends or just want to end the evening listening to a nice DJ Set at a nice bar?
Perfect 🙂
Then join us on our cosy afterparty on Saturday at Soul Bar, in only 5 minutes walking distance from Canisiushaus.
We will get rid of some chairs and tables to have at least a tiny dancefloor.

Sunday: Teatime Swing with Fächerswing

Fächerswing, that stands for a wide repertoire of always danceable, swinging songs. From the 20s to today, from blues to Lindy Hop to Shag: what more could a swing dancer ask for?

The musicians from Karlsruhe have set themselves the goal of making music that is specifically tailored to the needs of the Lindy Hop scene.

They present groovy classics of swing music and will thus provide us with the perfect conclusion to our festival!
