Teachers, Classes and Level Descriptions

Get to know the great teachers for all our workshops.

Below you will find the level and class descriptions for the Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz classes, as well as the description of the Musicality class special class.

After the last classes of each day there is an After Dance Yoga session.

Lindy Hop

We offer 3 levels of Lindy Hop, each with 6 hours of classes.

Due to schedule overlaps it is not possible to attend more than one level.

Intermediate

You've been dancing at least a year regularly in classes and socials. You already have quite a few figures like Circle and Swingout in your repertoire and are comfortable dancing them. You're ready to work on style, musicality and want to improve your dancing in general.

Intermediate/Advanced

You've been dancing Lindy Hop regularly for at least 2-3 years and attended many classes and workshops. You have a big repertoire of movements and stylings. In this level, you need to be able to dance Swingouts effortlessly to fast music to use them as a basis for new moves. Tandem Charleston and other Charleston steps are part of your dances. You enjoy dancing to a wide variety of tempos and rhythms with good connection.

Advanced

You actively participate in social dances and international swing camps. Your movement and transitions are fluent, creating seamless dancing in all situations. You demonstrate strong musicality: applying rhythmic variations, understanding musical structures, and adapting your repertoire to fit the music. Your partner connection is highly developed, allowing for clear and responsive communication. You easily integrate Solo Jazz and a diverse range of figures into your dance. In addition, you are familiar and engage with the cultural background of Lindy Hop. This level is designed for those ready to challenge themselves in fast-paced, high-level workshops.

Optional Solo Jazz Add-on

If you're doing the Lindy Track, you can add one Solo Jazz class to enhance your weekend experience! The specific Solo Jazz class you'll attend will be assigned according to the schedule to ensure optimal timing with your Lindy Hop classes.

Solo Jazz

We offer 3 separate solo jazz courses, each with 3 hours of classes. The content will be different so you can book all three courses. If you do the Lindy track, you will be able to add one specific solo jazz course to spice up your day even more.

You should have done some Solo Jazz before or gained Solo Jazz experience through your Lindy Hop classes for attending the solo jazz classes. Classes will be designed in a way that both experienced and less experienced dancers will be challenged.

Jazz Vocabulary

This class is about expanding our jazz vocabulary. We'll work with different movement qualities and musical styles while maintaining the groove, fundamentals and energy that define jazz.

Slides

In this class, we'll explore different sliding techniques and develop flow and musicality through exercises, combinations and improvisation, allowing us to discover creativity and ease in our movement.

Jazz Duo

This class focuses on partnering in authentic jazz. We'll work on listening and connecting with a partner using jazz vocabulary. Exercises, choreographed sequences and time for experimentation will help you develop confidence, musicality and presence while dancing as a duo.

Karl Brochard

Karl Brochard, also known as Swinghappy, is a passionate dancer and teacher whose style is shaped by a blend of influences, including swing, hip-hop, and Afrodance. Curious and nomadic in his approach, he discovered in swing not only an artistic revelation but also a rich African American culture.
